KENYAN PEASANTS LEAGUE
ORGANIZE! AMPLIFY! RESIST!
Women Collective – KPL Women Collective brings together all Women of KPL from all the KPL Clusters. The main aim of the KPL Women Collective is to Organize and Amplify the KPL Women to Resist forces of Patriarchy that oppresses, exploits and commodifies women (their bodies, lives and sexuality), and women’s work (formal and informal, overwork as well as the type of work and working conditions); and deprives them of access to common goods (resources, water, land, environmental protection, and food sovereignty). Patriarchy is also engrained in many traditions and norms, which are often used to maintain this hierarchy and power.
For the majority of Africans, around 70%, their ecological, economic and social agenda is tied to agriculture. This dependence on agriculture means massive vulnerability to the effects of climate change. Dealing with the climate crisis is key to ensuring resilience, food sovereignty, justice and livelihoods for Africa.

Agroecology can free farmers from dependency, manipulated commodity markets, unfair subsidies and inherent food insecurity. It is resisted by giant corporations that profit from the status quo.
Food and agriculture across the world are in crisis. Food is becoming denitrified and unhealthy and diets less diverse. There is a loss of biodiversity, which threatens food security, soils are being degraded, water sources polluted and depleted and smallholder farmers, so vital to global food production, are being squeezed off their land and out of farming.
