“We view this as an attempt by some invisible powerful actors to bring GMOs into Kenya illegally and unconstitutionally. We reiterate that the judgement by the ELC did not vacate interim orders by Lady Justice Mugure Thandi barring the importation and distribution of GMO organisms pending the determination of the case” said Cidi Otieno, the National Coordinator, KPL, one of the petitioners.

KPL Mourns National Convener Cde Dick Olela
The Kenyan Peasants League (KPL) fraternity plunged into mourning after the demise of the KPL National Convener Comrade Dick Olela after a short illness that occurred yesternight at Christamarianne Mission Hospital in Kisii town in Kenya. Comrade Dick Olela was instrumental in the formation and development of KPL and was a key pillar and a militant who provided ideological directions of the KPL movement.
Kenyan High Court Extends GMO Ban
The High Court of Kenya has directed that the interim orders that stopped the importation, distribution and consumption of GMO crops shall remain in force up to 28 March 2023 when the matter shall be heard. This is after the Attorney General applied for the orders to be vacated.

KPL Tests Organic Pesticide
The Kenyan Peasants League (KPL) is currently testing the efficacy of two different organic pesticides in three clusters in Migori and Baringo County.
