International Day of Peasants Struggle

Yesterday the 17 April 2021, the Kenyan Peasants League joined other members of La Via Campesina globally in marking the International Day of Peasants Struggle by holding events. During the day, Seeds were exchanged and members also discussed the Peasants Agroecology School Module that is going to be used in our Agroecology Schools. Members also condemned the Kenyan Seeds and Plant Variety Act that criminalise Farmer Managed Seeds Systems and Resolved to push for amendments to sections that criminalise Farmer Managed Seeds Systems. Members also condemned the failure by the Government of Kenya to recognise Smallholder Farmers as Essential Workers and Resolved to petition the Interior Ministry to recognise Smallholder Farmers as Essential Workers.
