KPL Youth Mark International Youth Day by Exchanging Seeds

The Kenyan Peasants League Youth Collective (KPL-YC), Mariwa Cluster today marked the International Youth Day (IYD) by exchanging indigenous seeds and establishing a Cluster Seed Bank. The event that was held at Mariwa village coincided with the International Youth Day that is marked annually on 12 August to bring youth issues to the attention of the international community and celebrate the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society and was also attended by members Mulo Cluster Youth Collective.

KPL to Host National Training on Agroecology & Climate Justice

The Kenyan Peasants League (KPL) Agroecology and Climate Justice (AE & CJ) Collective is set to hold a Four Days National Training on Agroecology and Climate Justice targeting members of KPL – AE & CJ Collective from 14 to 17 June 2021. The Four Days National Training shall take place in Kangemi and will be attended by representatives from KPL’s nine clusters namely Rabolo, Mariwa, Mulo and Kurutyange in Migori County; Apuoyo in Siaya County; Kamnarok in Baringo County; Kangemi in Nairobi County and Utawala and Mwende Munyanyau in Machakos County.

Members of KPL Mark World Environment Day

Members of the Kenyan Peasants League (KPL) from various Clusters held events to mark the World Environment Day Marked Annually on 5 June. The events were held to expose the role of powerful global corporations in aggravating climate change and also hold reflections on the role of Peasants Agroecology in Achieving Climate Justice

Kenyan Government Sued Over Recent IMF Loan

The Kenyan Peasants League (KPL) and the Kenya Debt Abolition Network (KDAN) have moved to the East African Court of Justice over the recent KES44 Million (USD401 Million) International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Kenya. Represented by Lumumba and Ayieko Advocates, the two organizations have sued the Attorney General of Kenya and the Secretary General of the East African Community for failing to perform their responsibility of ensuring that the Kenyan Government maintains a ceiling of gross public debt at 50% of its Gross Domestic Product in Net Present Value terms as required by article 5(2)(b) as read with articles 6(2)(c) and 9 of the Protocol on the Establishment of the East African Community Monetary Union.

KPL to Participate in a Webinar to Mark Fair Trade Day

The Kenyan Peasants League (KPL) members will take part in a Webinar to mark the International Fair Trade Day on 11 May 2021. The title of the Webinar is Trade vs. Fair Trade – results and consequences from the perspective of Kenyan Peasants League and shall be hosted by a Polish Organisation that partners with KPL.
